Waihi Mine Tour
It was a bit unusual for the club to have a run on a Saturday, but this was a necessity due to the fact that our destination, the Newmont gold and silver mine at Waihi was originally going to be working so enabling our members to see a mine in operation.
Cliff and Jeanine Wiki, our Waihi members had put a lot of organisation into this event and it showed with the smooth running of the whole day, and the number of vehicles that turned up. A total of twenty cars and in excess of fifty people made the trip.
Five cars left Morrinsville and we picked up two extra cars at Mangateparu before we headed across the swamp to Paeroa where the Auckland group,
Thank you Cliff & Jeanine for organising and running an excellent event. It was a day that was really enjoyed by everyone, even after enduring the heat in overalls and Hi-Viz gear. It just meant the beer at the RSA tasted even better.
